Tolstoy and Don Quixote by Sahal Salah Muse

Tolstoy and Don Quixote

Assignment C20
FCA 1 Evidence (*Ev) Sahal Muse
FCA 2 Organization 03/20/2012
FCA 3 Paragraph Transition (2) Period 4

The world is not the way it should be because there is trouble and violence is going on everywhere. When I think the way the world would be, first I would like a world of peace and coexistence. A world of sharing food and wealth could make more equal to the whole humanity. A world without discrimination and hate. The second paragraph is about my point of view in our world. The third paragraph is about my understanding of both stories.

The world will not change. That’s what Tolstoy would say. The evidence is on page 4 line 37 to 40: “But he clearly and indubitable realized that the icon, its frame, the candle, the priest, and the thanksgiving service, though very important and necessary in church, could do nothing for him, and that there was and could be no connection...” (*Ev) However Don Quixote believed whatever good you have done, you must receive the good thing back and the evidence is on page 3 line 71 and 72: “My intentions are always directed to worthy ends, to do to all and evil to none; and if he who means...”. (*Ev) The world will not change and people will fight for their interest.

There are a lot of differences in our world and problems. There are a lot of things going on on earth. Nowadays, people fight for their interest. They don’t care about the effect. Its called materialism. The world should be more tolerant about religion and ethnicity. The critical thing would more about saving life and having a pacified or peaceful life. The reality of the world is different about what the two different stories teach us.

The stories are different. My opinion is in the story of Tolstoy. If you made a bad decision or have been done some wrong thing, you will get back the effect. It’s the moral of that story and it's the way I see life.  However the story of Don Quixote teaches us everyone should help so they will achieve knighthood and be more respectful.

In conclusion, both stories are interesting because both teach some different things. In the story of Don Quixote by Cervantes, he is always trying to help people by rescuing them that’s the good side of him.  Although he is seeing his own fancies, he is making wrong choices. In the story of Master and Man by Tolstoy, the master was always involved to get some corruption by selling and stealing the candles he sold to the people in the church. Then at the end of the story he rescued his servant by losing his own life.
